Much talk and discussion about the impending convention of Government Secondary School Afikpo Alumni – GSSA WORLD Con’08 has started like a “wild fire in the Spring”!

With expected attendance at all time high this year, many Old Boys are beginning to pack their bags quite early in earnest. Excitement about this year’s convention is spurred by a variety of factors – high anticipation of nostalgic alumni reunion; rising cost of airline tickets; possible hotel accommodation limitation and early registration encouragement from GSSAAA, to convention goers.
As a result of the high cost of fuel for airplanes, traveling alumni to the convention, their friends and families are advised to start their early search for airline ticket discounts, before it becomes cost prohibitive. Attendees, planning to drive down by car may also begin to make their rental reservations early to avoid the expected shortage of available rental automobiles.

ETG – GSSAAA’s  task group responsible for planning GSSA WORLD Con’08 has issued statement recently, advising that in order to take advantage of the specially reserved convention rate, attendees must make their reservations early; warning that space is very limited.

As excitement mounts amongst GSSA Old boys not just within the US but world wide, Charles Agunobi MD, ETG’s chairman and the chairman of this year’s convention is confidently insisting that the group is ready for the expected surge of Old Boys. This threshold of confidence is proudly on display, as the year’s slogan:

“Charlotte is ready for you; are you ready for Charlotte?”

According to Charles Kanayo Agunobi, “this is the clear result of efficient planning, early preparation and a keen determination to beat last year’s convention success”.

This year’s convention is scheduled to take place early August (August 1 – 3 2008) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Those who have been to Charlotte before, are assured that the city of Billy Graham is where to be this summer. A rising star of the South, Charlotte boasts of an array of places to see and things to do. The queen city is the largest city in North Carolina and the nation’s second largest financial center. It is also home to the Billy Graham Library, the Bobcats and Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
