JUST LIKE YESTERDAY
Yes, GSSA is still like yesterday to me.
I would like to expand the memory.
There were many of GSSA old boys us in architecture
and believe it, we were feared in Graphics (Advanced Technical Drawing).
Do you remember these quotable quotes:
Mr Umeham in history class when asked about the meaning of renaissance;
His response:
“the critical intellectual awakening of the questioning spirit that took the place of passive obedience
in England during the middle ages”
He would also ask:
“who can tell me why Roman empire fell in 40 BC?
He would point at us and say Yooou, yooou, chimpanzee , barbarous!
Remember 007 who said to some body in C class:
You stupid boys can’t make use of your stupid senses you hearrr rhat.
I ron know your mother , I ron know your father, you got nought and I gave you nought!
Here comes Egbe in the assembly:
” If you do not respect me as your principal, you must respect me as an ikolobia.”
Remember Fabulous Ogba:
Wey una now? Na una de scatter meeo!
Remember Chacha:
“Discipuli pictoram spectate? Spectatisne!
Ubi et Gaulia? Ubi et britannica ….
Remember “Show must live”
walking into the class for french he would point at some one and say;
you must parlez today!
Mr Oguoma (my best math teacher) in class:
“nkuzichara gi maths, oburu na ighotaghi ya, mara na iwu aturu”
(If I teach you maths and you dont understand it, just know that you are a sheep)
Mr. Moma (my best physics teacher):
Oh Yes! life is short!
Mr Ekpe(history master) to a disrespectful student:
“Ngwerie gi okpukpu”
In an Add Maths Class with Mr. Ukpabi,
I concurred to his statement when I said “egzatily” (exactly).
I became the object of caricature for a while among the add maths students.
Mr Ike , a new maths master from Govt College Umuahia.
He walked into our noisy class. No one noticed him and he exploded:
“Keeeep Quieeeeet!, my name is Mr. ike, your new maths teacher.
I just finished my HSC in Umuahia, your sister school.
At umuahia, I was not well known in academics. Rather I was well known for removing devils out of boys’ heads”
What happened after that, your guess is as good as mine.
Chike, I would try my best to fish out our mates.
Anyikwa F (Rashidi Kawawa), Uche Azie, Dakosta (ojigwe), Umoga are all here.
For memories, remember the book “The Treasure Island”.
After we read it, I got the nice name of “Old Sea Salt” in addition to “Ishi mallet”.
Till much later
Geoff.
